From the streets of Bangkok: Resisting the debt crisis

Date: Wednesday, 14 October 2026
Time: 1pm - 2:15pm BST
Where: Online (Zoom)

Join us live from Bangkok! We’ll be reporting on the latest from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Annual Meetings, as we join forces with people around the world to demand urgent debt cancellation.

Campaginers will be taking to the streets of the Thai capital this October to demand debt cancellation from two of the biggest lenders to lower-income countries.

The worst debt crisis in 35 years needs to be met with urgent debt cancellation. Instead, these two powerful institutions are lending more money, so that countries like Kenya, Egypt and Pakistan can pay off private lenders such as banks, oil traders and debt vultures. Join us on 14th October to hear from:

  • Shereen Talaat, founder and director of the MENA Fem Movement for Economic, Development and Ecological Justice, Morocco
  • Collins Liko, International Network for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR-Net), Kenya
  • Heidi Chow, director at Debt Justice, UK
