Tell the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government to ban the bailiffs!

The government is holding a consultation on what to do about the enormous growth in council tax debt and how council tax is collected. This is especially important now, as our research shows that most people with council tax debt are living on the lowest incomes.

They want to hear from members of the public, especially if you are worried about council tax debt. This is our chance to speak up about what needs to change, particularly when it comes to government use of bailiffs.

We’ve picked out the five most important questions from the government consultation, which are in bold on the next few pages. If you want to see the full consultation there is a link at the end. We’ve also included information with each question to explain what is being asked, and Debt Justice's view, but it’s important that you give your own views in response, if you wish to.
