Whether you’re a seasoned campaigner or have never taken action before, attending the National Gathering will help you skill up, learn more about debt, and meet new people to take action with. You’ll also get to hear from a whole host of inspiring speakers, and help plan a big action taking place in the Autumn.
The event is free to attend (although you’re welcome to donate if you can afford it), and if the cost of travel is a barrier we can pay for you to get to Bristol. We also have some limited accommodation if you’re coming from far away – get in touch to find out if we can accommodate you.
Join us to hear from a host of inspiring speakers:
- Hear from Gargi Battacharyya, Professor of sociology, who will help explain how the global economy got to where it is today, and how the violent histories of slavery and empire continue to influence society.
- Find out the latest on the debt crisis facing 54 countries and why we can’t fight the climate crisis without addressing the debt crisis. Learn new campaign skills and plan actions together for key campaigns this autumn.
- Hear from campaigners at the frontline of the UK’s household debt crisis. Almost 13 million people in the UK are in serious debt, Yesmin Begum, a campaigner with the Unfair Debt Group will share her experiences of campaigning and the need for grassroots activism.
The venue's access information can be found here. Step free access to the space is unfortunately only available through the side door. We will have someone there until ten minutes after the first session begins. After that time please call the phone number available on the information pack that will be emailed close to the event.
We will have a child care space for the whole gathering and a dedicated quiet space for most of the day. Please let us know of any further access needs when you fill in the form and we'll do our absolute best to accommodate you.
Full agenda and speakers will be published closer to the event.
